LCR Honda CASTROL rider Álex Márquez is relishing the chance to race on home soil as the MotoGP class heads to Barcelona for round seven of the World Championship. With spectators back in attendance, there should be an extra buzz at the Circuit de Catalunya this weekend and the Catalan native is hoping to be inspired by the fans.
Álex has a superb record at his home track having chalked up three victories in the Moto3 and Moto2 classes (2014, 2017 and 2019). After a challenging weekend at Mugello in the last round, the 25-year-old is now looking forward to racing at a venue that holds so many positive memories.

“This is my home GP after Mugello, which was a difficult weekend from an emotional point of view. I’m looking forward to being at Montmelo [Barcelona-Catalunya] which is a track that I really love and is one of my favourites. Also, I know the circuit on a MotoGP bike and last year I had a good feeling there, so it will be good to be back there and making forward steps. There were some positives at Mugello, like warm-up, in which I felt really good on the bike. This weekend we will work step by step and Monday’s test at the track will be very important for me. I will give my 100% focus to feel good on the bike and build up confidence. It will be really important to be concentrated from the beginning.”
